Furness Summer 7s Rules & Competition Structure

It is important that all players are aware of the rules below.

Normal rules of Futebol apply unless stated below and remember rule 9 is the most important!

IN ULVERSTON – NO PLASTIC STUDS OR BLADE BOOTS CAN BE WORN AT ANY TIME!!!
THIS IS TO PROTECT THE PLAYING SURFACE.

General

1. The ball IS allowed over head height

2. Outfield players may enter the goalkeeper’s area if marked and goalkeepers can leave the area.

3. Instead of a throw-in, when the ball leaves the field, play will re-start with a kick-in. A goal cannot be scored directly from a kick-in and the opposition must give 5 yards to allow the kick-in to be taken.

4. All free-kicks are direct with the exception of backpasses (rule 11), the defending team must be at least 5 yards from the ball at all free-kicks.

5. All teams MUST wear the same colour shirt, bibs are provided to 1 team in the case of a clash of colours.

6. All players must be male and over the age of 16 by 31st August 2011

7. League match duration will be 16 minutes with no half time.

Disciplinary

8. Players may be sin binned by the referee for a 2 minute period once during a match rather than receiving a yellow card.  Any player sent off will receive an immediate one match ban.  Violent behaviour will result in a longer ban from all Furness Futebol competitions.

9. The referee is always right, don’t argue!

Goalkeepers

10. Are allowed outside their area, however handball outside the area will result in a direct free kick. If deemed deliberate the goalkeeper will be sin binned.

11. As in 11-a-side Football, the goalkeeper cannot pick up a backpass from his own player. If the goalkeeper does pick up a backpass the opposing team will be awarded an in-direct free-kick.
Players

12. A team shall consist of a squad up to 10 players per match.  A rolling substitution system is in operation, however substitutions may only take place when the ball is dead and the referee has been informed.  No more than 7 players per team may be on the field at any time.

13. Players can only play for one team per season, however if a team is short of players on the night the opposition may allow your team to field players from another team.

14. Players must be registered with Furness Futebol, if a team is fielding a player not registered they must inform the Furness Futebol representative and register the player online at: www.furnessFutebol.co.uk asap.

Safety

15. All players MUST wear shin pads

16. Slide tackles are not allowed regardless of whether the ball is taken first.  All slide tackles will result in a direct free-kick or penalty being awarded.

Competitions

17. The Furness Summer 7s Tournament will be made up of up to 24 teams playing in three leagues at Ulverston Leisure Centre. Teams will play all other teams in their league twice to determine their final league position.

18. The top two teams form each league will play for the Champions Shield, the middle four teams from each league will play for the mid table KO Cup and the bottom two teams in each league will play for the wooden spoon.

19. Points awarded during any league phase of competition will be as follows: WIN 3 points, DRAW 1 point, LOSE 0 points.

20. If two teams are tied on points in the league their placing will be decided by firstly: their head to head, secondly goal difference, thirdly goals scored and finally by the toss of a coin.

22. Teams may not postpone a match, we have no contingency for postponed matches. Its so important I said it twice.

These rules are not here to spoil your fun! Make sure your players are aware of the rules as they will ensure your safety and enjoyment during the competition.

24. Payment of your nights match fees, i.e. 2 matches at £12.50 = £25.00, MUST be made in full prior to your first match. Match fees should ideally be paid in a sealed envelope marked with your team name on and handed to a Furness Futebol representative.

25. If teams would like to pay their 7 weeks worth of league match fees up front, this can be done at a cost of £160.00 (saving your team £15.00)
